15/12/2011 The Recruitment Industry as we enter 2012

15.12.2011

A new survey by recruitment software developers, Arithon has revealed some interesting statistics on the recruitment industry in Ireland at the moment.

70% of recruitment agencies and consultants surveyed revealed that they are making more or less the same number of placements as this time four years ago. This shows that after the initial slowdown of the industry caused by the recession, companies are again beginning to enlist the services of agencies when recruiting new staff. 88% of these placements are now for permanent positions.

Jobs boards are still the primary source of candidates and CVs for recruiters, closely followed by their existing database. Just under half of those surveyed have used LinkedIn to source potential candidates for their vacancies.

Focusing on the changing technology in the recruitment industry in Ireland, it was revealed that 90% of recruiters believe that jobseekers will use their phone to search for jobs in 2012. This may see a trend of new recruitment and job seeking applications being developed in the New Year.

All of the recruitment consultants surveyed use a smartphone with the Apple IPhone being the overwhelmingly popular choice.

Over 70% of those surveyed also need access to their database when out of the office, proving that the tendency to work-at-home or while on the move is certainly not disappearing anytime soon.
